2 1/2 y/o Vizsla with a recurring skin rash

Our 2-1/2 yr old Vizsla has developed a skin rash on her chest. It appeared two months ago and went away with a course of antibiotics, but now it’s back.

She eats Orijen, a high-quality fish kibble, but also gets occasional food treats. She swims often in an area of Lake Ontario that is probably filled with bacteria.

Is there a systematic way I can begin to treat her, before taking her to the vet?

    Hello Andrew,

What did the vet say the first time you brought her in. Did he feel the rash was due to an allergy, an infection or something else?

With those answers we can see what other suggestions our pros might have for you.

The vet was unhelpful and I don’t think she got a good look at it (squirmy vizsla), but she did say that it could be cause by excessive moisture from swimming, and her advice was to make sure we dried her carefully after swims.
