Holistic vet helped my dog with mast cell tumors on head

Friday, August 27th, 2010

My Weimaraner was diagnosed with MCTs two years ago – he had two tumours removed, one being on his head so the surgeon wasn’t able to take a wide enough margin. After two operations we decided enough was enough and looked into Homeopathy, and found a wonderful Holistic Vet, we haven’t looked back since. He is taking an MCT nosode, CV 247 (which is also being trialled on humans and is showing very favourable results), Floressence, he is on an organic RAW diet, has cottage cheese and ground flaxseed, fish oils, garlic, yogurt etc. He is doing extremely well, he’s happy, active and full of life, out hunting every day and people can’t believe he has cancer, it’s amazing! Research has shown that we are over vaccinating our pets, the wormers etc are filling them with toxins and this is the result, all unnecessary when it can be done naturally IMO. I urge everyone to please look at alternatives as it’s been a complete eye opener to me :)

After dog outside her face is swollen

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

I have a small 18 month old female collie. Around 20 – 30 mins after taking her out on an overgrown track (grass, nettles etc) her face began to ripple and swelled to more than twice its size within seconds, in front of my eyes.  Her eyes were ‘Chinese’ looking and she basically looked like a Staff Bull Terrier. She did not seem distressed, was eating and drinking as normal and swallowing and barking OK.  The swelling has gone down quite a bit this morning and she is still eating OK.  She has been up this track many times, but not for a couple of weeks due to the overgrowth.

Could this be a bite or sting?

Dog is vomiting for 2 days but acting normal

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

My dog vomited twice yesterday. The first time was his food and the second was yellow and watery. He didn’t really eat his food today and just wanted water however he vomited that watery yellow stuff again. He is pretty much acting like his normal self playing and all besides the eating.

What should I do?

Could it be the heat?

What is the process for home euthansia?

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

I am wondering how the process works to have someone come to my house to put my dog to sleep?

I am trying to prepare for the not to distant future and I am wondering how much it will cost to have this done. I just hate to take her to have her put down because she really gets nervous taking her to the vet. She has spent allot of time there the last few years, she is fifteen years old.

I don’t think it will be much longer until I need to do this so I am trying to come up with a plan proactively.

Thank you

Need to take a stool sample to vet. How long is it good for

Friday, August 20th, 2010

I need to take a stool sample in to my vet.  I collected a sample yesterday and put it in the refrigerator.  My vet will not be open again until Tuesday.  Will the sample be good until then or will I need to try to get a more recent sample?

My dashound has blood in her urine, is there anything I can give her to relieve her if she is in pain tonight till I get her to the vet tomorrow. Seems like a urinary tract infection?

Should my kids be there when we put our dog down?

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Hello – I hope you can give some advice…I’m the mother of two small kids ages 4 and 7, and my 16 year old dog has some serious health issues and is suffering.  We’ve chosen to have her put down.

This dog has been a part of their lives since they were born and we all love her and will miss her.  I’ve scheduled a house-call vet to come out to our house for this to minimize the stress and let her pass in her own home, but I’m torn on whether to have our kids present for this.

What are your feelings on this matter?

Cat with swollen paw concerns me. Ideas?

Monday, August 9th, 2010

My cat’s paw suddenly swelled up and she cannot walk on it.  There is no blood.  She is not licking it but she cries if we come near her or try to touch her paw.  We need to have a vet see her asap and will bring her in tomorrow.

Can I do anything in the interim?

My finicky cat refuses to eat her prescription cat food. HELP!

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

HELP! My cat is prone to urinary tract infections and our vet put her on a canned food for this.  She’s extremely stubborn and refuses to eat the canned food she needs for her urinary tract health.

Any suggestions?
