My poor lovebird gone crazy?

Wednesday, July 9th, 2014

It began as my lovebird losing her feathers, yet now its gotten so awful! I attempted to provide for her water and she submerged her head and began fluttering her wings like she was suffocating, and she simply continued doing it again and again, so then I took the water away and  she began hitting her head on the pen and it was terrible. What would I be able to do?

Please help!

Help my cat with swollen irritated eye problem

Thursday, June 28th, 2012

My cat’s eye has become sorely irritated several times during the past and has cured itself within a couple of days.  However, this time, his eye is very red and seems to be out of focus.  Above his eye appears to be swollen.  He is acting sleepy but restless.  He just keeps trying to clean the eye. It seems like he might have a problem with one of his eyelids.  Help!

Does my baby ferret have a problem?

Monday, June 25th, 2012

My baby ferret Lia, is not as energetic as my two older ferrets. I’m pretty new at owning ferrets but isn’t the younger ones more hyper? Can she be ill? She’s not acting sick.

Thanks,

Claude

Should I nurse this bird back to health?

Tuesday, June 19th, 2012

I found a bird that was lying on the ground, presumably injured. It was in a state of shock, as it tried to fly away but couldn’t. I took it home to try to nurse it back to health. Is it possible? Should I just let it outside and let nature take its course.

Thank you.

Recommendations on how to help my cockatoo to stop self-mutilating and feather picking?

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

I got her two years ago with the problem.  She is now living with a flexible collar and does very well (her personality is actually more normal with the collar on than when she has it off and is preoccupied with picking).  Just curious if anyone has any further ideas.  She’s got a clean bill of health from the vet, a new diet, and the largest parrot cage on the market filled with toys. I’ve tried different cage locations and increased frequency of her baths (she hates spray bottles).  I haven’t yet tried her with another cockatoo because I’m afraid she might hurt it since she hates my other birds.  Thoughts?

Guinea pig food/health problem

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

I was recently away for 3 days and I left my guinea pig home with my mother. I told her what to feed her etc, but apparently she did not listen to me. She bought my piggie some food for rodents (yeah, if you know what I’m talking about you figured out it contains a lot of shelled seeds and nuts). And that’s not all, she bought my piggie some yogurt tablets.

But back on topic:

I think that my piggie ate some of the food with seeds and I have seen some yogurt tablets in her cage that were half eaten. So far she hasn’t shown any signs of stomach ache or something like that. Should I worry about her? Should I do something about it? Please help.

Could my pet rat have respiratory problems?

Friday, January 20th, 2012

He’s 9 months recent and fairly good sized. He sneezes a heap, though. I use carefresh bedding so I understand its not that, I’m just not positive if I ought to worry. The only different thing that creates me worry is that generally he’s terribly lazy and can just lay in his house. Not sleeping though. But he sneezes SO MUCH! Should I worry concerning him?

Thanks.

Help: Hamster problem

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

I have a hamster. Can an expert or even not but has knowledge about Syrian hamsters help me.

1.) If you put two hamsters-‘Syrian’ already in a cage and gets use to it, will they not fight and kill each other because they are known to kill one another and to be alone in one cage

2.) How to take good care of it. Can you give some tips?

3.) Why do they not drink if I put water in a small bowl? Does it need to be warm? I think my water is a little bit cold.

Help me please. I’m a newbie to pet these animals. Thanks!

How long should I wait before getting new pet for my other pets?

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

I just had to put a dog down, and my older dog is now alone. She keeps looking for her. It is so sad; I always thought she would go first. She has had more health problems. Now I am scared for her. I want to make her comfortable and find her a new friend. How long is it good to wait?

Rat health problem

Thursday, December 29th, 2011

My boyfriend has a pet rat named Agatha, and she is less than a year old. However, she has been acting strange and we just noticed it, but have never even seen or heard of these symptoms. I can only describe it.

She walks forward, sucks in her stomach at the waist, to the point where she looks emaciated, and this makes it hard for her to balance as she keeps walking, so her hind legs drag a little. He says it looks as though she’s trying to turn by standing with both legs, limp, in one spot. I think it looks as though she tries to bend herself in half like a hose.

We looked everywhere for symptoms list, and could not identify what was going on. She still eats, is active, playful, but does a look a little tired. The problem just started today.

If anybody knows what’s wrong with Agatha, please help!
