Is there a problem with my hamster?

Tuesday, July 8th, 2014

I’m a new hamster owner. I know they are nocturnal by the way. So we got her about 24 hours ago….when we first place her in,  she ate, ran on her wheel, explored her place and then made a nest and then slept. She rested all day and until midnight.  When I woke up the only difference on her cage was a couple of pieces of poop but she is resting still.  Is there something wrong with my hamster?

Could mice and roborovski dwarf hamsters live together without health problems?

Saturday, January 18th, 2014

I have 3 mice and two dwarf hamsters in separate cages and was wondering if there could be any health problems in connecting their cages so they could live together? They get along fine when I have them sitting in my hands or when I let them run around in the bath tub.  They don’t fight or even play fight. I have 2 Critter trail cages and I can easily connect them. I thought it would be fun to experiment but wanted to make sure that combining two species in the same environment wouldn’t cause health problems. Thanks!

How do I Treat my Hamsters Skin Condition?

Monday, October 28th, 2013

I love my robo hamster and shes just too young to die. I just noticed she has lost the fur on her lower back above her butt. Also her skin is all scabby. I really cant be spending money on a vet. What are some treatments I can do ? She also shares a cage with another robo hamster, that one seems fine but I want to know if I should separate them, just in case? I looked up wet tail and I dont think its that. Please help. – Sandy

What are the signs that my hamster is getting sick or is sick?

Thursday, July 18th, 2013

My hamster has been acting weird and her eye looks funny. Can anyone give me a list of signs or anything that tells me if my hamster is sick or is just becoming old? She is a full adult. :) Thank you!

I guess I will add what her eye looks like. One eye is squinting, almost shut while the other one is open like it is supposed to be.

Thank you.

My hamster has a lump on her chest! Should I be worried?

Thursday, April 18th, 2013

My hamster has a lump on her chest! Should I be worried? I recently saw that my golden hamster has a lump on the inside of her chest. She is acting perfectly normal, and isn’t showing any signs that she’s in pain. Also, she’s not losing any hair, but the lump is a fairly good size for such a small animal. Please help!  – Annie

Timid pet rats when out of cage

Monday, June 11th, 2012

I have 2 female rats and I’ve had them since this summer. They are great. They’re very friendly and sociable. The problem is, when I get them out of the cage, they still seem a little timid. When I take them out, I put them in my room and usually do homework. If they get close, something as simple as the flip of a page will make them bolt. I take them out almost every day. I’m not worried about it, I just want to be able to play with them more outside of the cage. Thanks.
