My dog refuses to eat or drink even though he has fresh food and cold water, until someone gets home. Is this a kind of separation anxiety? He eats like we’ve been starving him when we get home.

That is definitely one of the signs of separation anxiety Ronnie. Many dogs with separation anxiety refuse to eat or drink when alone. They can also be destructive, urinate and defecate inside the house, and bark excessively.
