Helping pet owners get health help For their pets

My 9 y/o cat Frisky has become abnormally ill all of a sudden!

My cat Frisky which is nine (almost ten) has become abnormally ill.

It happened all too quick. She was “begging” for food one morning and she suddenly took off meowing and running, and she couldn’t use her right hing leg. I followed her and quickly found her. She was instantly able to use her leg but I observed that she couldn’t hold it in the air. Soon after, I realized she had lost all bladder control, and quickly called the vet.

Nothing abnormal appeared in the X-ray but they did find blood in her urine.

It’s been three days and she still hasn’t improved in the slightest.

She is a beloved member of this family and I beg anyone to offer their opinions.

    Hi David,

What else does the vet say? They must have some ideas on what’s causing your cat’s condition!

The problem in asking this type of question online is that any good professional will want to see your cat. There just is no way to determine what’s causing this without actually looking at your cat.

Anyone who offers a solution to you is guessing, but some of our professionals are very good guessers so we’ll ask them.

What we might suggest is getting a second opinion from another veterinarian if you feel your first vet was not thorough enough. If we get any responses from our pros (and sometimes they will NOT respond if they feel that it is not a responsible thing for them to do), their answers will appear here and you can ask your vet to check those things.

I can tell you that getting a second opinion can do many things for you. The first is, if the opinion agrees with the original opinion, you can have better trust in your vet. If it does not, you’ll need to decide which opinion makes the most sense to you and go with that one.

Best wishes for finding out what happened and a speedy recovery for your cat,
