Helping pet owners get health help For their pets

My cat has cancer, what can I do?

My cat, Wenci, is 18. He’s been my best friend forever and my baby. I have all kinds of memories that he’s a part of.  He’s the most cherished pet I’ve ever had (we had  dog and another cat for a while), and I’m not ready to let him go. We thought he was healthy for a lengthy time; aside from a heart murmur and arthritis, he was doing very well for his age. We recently moved a long distance, and he started acting weird. We thought that he was just upset about moving and the brand-new environment, so we let him get adjusted. After a few weeks, though, we figured it couldn’t possibly still be the new house bugging him, so we brought him to the vet. They ran X-Rays and found a tumor. We don’t know how long he has, but I was wondering if there was a way to make him better and live longer, or at the very least, make him comfortable. He’s too old to operate on, and the vet has been giving him antibiotics to increase his appetite and get rid of any other infections, but if there’s anything else that can be done, please tell me because I’m having problems letting go, and I don’t want him to go. He seems to feel alright, because he’s walking around and eating more, so please don’t tell me that the most humane thing to do would be to put him down. I just want to know how to make him live longer or make his last few weeks comfortable. Thank you for your help!

Honestly not much, I had a beautiful tabby cat that had a cancerous tumor on her face, and it actually ate away at her nose. The dr’s did the same thing gave me antibiotics to give her, and we tired to make her more comfortable. However, the medicine was oral, and she hated taking it, and it stressed her out to try to force feed it to her. After a while, we ended up putting her to sleep. It was so sad I can’t lie, but do what’s best for your cat. He seems comfy enough let him sleep all day, lounge around get him a very comfortable bed. Just keep in touch with your vet, and ask for their honest opinion on what’s best for your cat their professionals, and they will be truthful. Goodluck with your cat.
