My Cat has unstoppable dandruff

My cat has crazy dandruff. I tried bathing her but she freaked out and pooped in the tub. We brush her at least once a day. She didn’t use to have a problem, and we haven’t made a sudden change in her diet or environment. What will I do now? It’s super gross.

Bathing her will only exacerbate the problem by drying out her skin anyway, especially if she’s uncooperative since any soap residue is extremely difficult to rinse out completely. Any leftover soap will dry on the skin resulting in an even bigger dandruff problem. Cat dandruff can be the result of a lack of Omega-3s, a an environmental or food allergy, feline diabetes, obesity, parasites, or infection. Has anything changed in your home-like carpeting, upholstered furniture, food, cleaners, anything else that she could possibly be allergic to? If it’s just a dietary lack of Omega-3s, a fish oil supplement to her diet. Just remember to use a supplement that is guaranteed pure by the FDA to avoid mercury contamination. Goodluck 🙂
