    Speak to your veterinarian who may send you to a dermatologist.

    A few of the differential diagnoses are bacterial infection, vasculitis, trauma to the carpal pad, histiocytoma (the pebbly thing between the toes and the carpal pad).

    This is an abrasion of one of the pads and does cause some discomfort to your pet.

    This is similar to a scraped knee or an abrasion one might get on one’s foot from going barefoot on a hard surface. This should heal if your pet is kept on soft surfaces. He should not be allowed to play on concrete or go on walks or jogs on hard surfaces until the area is totally healed. You might also trim the dead and peeling tissue around the edge of the affected area with cuticle scissors, or have your vet do it for you.

    It would be wise to try to find the cause for this lesion, so that it can be prevented in the future.
