Puppy with strangles. Along with traditional, is there some holistic treatments available?

I am the director of a small non profit animal shelter. Today I had a 7# , 7 week old puppy looks like, a lab x turned into me with a severe case of strangles.. Her lymph nodes are enlarged and her glands are swollen The puppy is going on her sixth day of prednisone. My vet added an antibiotic also. The thing is I would also like to add some sort of holistic treatment to help her along but I am looking for guidance as to what would be best for her. This is our first case of strangles and from what I have read so far I believe I should give her a supplement of Glucosamine chondroitin and apply aloe vera or chlorhexadine. Any advice that you can give me to help this poor little girl would be greatly appreciated.

There is an herbal medicine called Antiphlogistic Tablets or Chuan Xin Lian. Kan herbs makes the antiphlogistic in a liquid form as well. However, if you have a China Town near you , grab the Chuan Xian Lian. It is an M & M like pill and easily swallowed.

This is anti-bacterial and anti-viral. Has been used to treat Mumps. If you are getting this from a Chinese medicine apothecary, pick up Yin Qioa as well. This can clear hearing and great for viruses and sore throat.

Also, make sure not to give low quality dog food (and definitely not dry food). Stay with the healthier brands ie. Merrick , Evo etc or do home cooking.

    Please ask the vet.
Don’t mean to disappoint you, but Glucosamine, aloe and chlorhexidine are pretty mainstream.

I don’t know if I’m allowed to post here without being a vet or not, but when the only solution presented to me was a month of steroids by my traditional vet, I also spent a long time researching and wanted to share our experience. I did find a homeopath who made a recommendation for a remedy that is also used to treat mumps. My little girl was already taking colloidal silver for something else, so she didn’t get the pustules, just the swollen lymph nodes. Before I could get the homeopathy ordered, the lymph gland burst and I started her on Waiora Natural Cell Defense internally as a detox and CS externally to prevent infection at the point of abscess. It has only been a week since she was swollen so badly that she looked like the hunchback of Notre Dame, but she is lively, active, no signs of further swelling or pustular activity, and just a tiny area on the side of her neck where there is still some light leakage.

We go tomorrow for a follow-up appt at the vet, and I am still going to order the constitutional homeopathic remedy recommended for her so that the root issue of whatever allowed the strangles to happen in the first place gets addressed. But I’m truly impressed with the results we got from using the highly effective detox treatment. I know we still have a couple of weeks to go before we can officially count ourselves in the clear, but I feel confident we’re on the right path! I’m sharing with you because I wish I had run across other experiences when I was so heavily researching my own!
