12 1/2 y/o dog with cancerous tumor on face. Want to save her please!

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Hi,

I have a 12 1/2 year old female mix who has developed a tumor on her face.

It started as a cyst on her forehead and has grown into a huge mass in her mouth palate in the last 8-9 months to her mouth palate which bleeds quite often.

Almost every vet we visited suggested to just and make her comfortable and nothing more. So they have prescribed prednisone, iron, multi-vitamins and something to stop her bleeding.

A new doctor we met recently encouraged us to pursue chemo.

My parents are not so confident about this option as they feel she is old and this would only cause more discomfort.

I was wondering if you could give us some suggestions as to the success rate of chemo in senior dogs and pros and cons of not getting chemo, in terms of her suffering as time goes. And based on your experience would you put a senior dog through this?

Thank you very much.

Dog diagnosed with sarcoma. Desparately seeking advice

Friday, June 5th, 2009

I have a 9 year old shepherd rottie mix who was just diagnosed with sarcoma.

They removed an 11 oz tumor from his right side and found gristle type material on the inside.  The concern now is osteosarcoma.  He will have x-ray on Monday.  The tumor was in a sheath.

I’m desperately seeking advice, suggestions etc. on diet, meds anything at this point.  I’ve had him from birth and am not ready to lose him.

Thanks for any help you can give!

10 y/o Basset diagnosed with transitional cell carcinoma. Supplement advice?

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Our 10 yr old basset has just been diagnosed with transitional cell carcinoma, tumors on his prostate and bladder, both of which are inoperable. He is taking 6 mg daily of peroxicam.

We would like to add a supplment to his diet and would like to know if and what would work well with the medicine he is on.

Thank you.
