And don’t try to extract the thorns or barbs yourself or you’ll end up hurting him more and possibly making the wound worse. Porcupine quills have barbs, like fish hooks, on their ends and you can pull off quite a chunk of flesh if you don’t know what you are doing. OUCH! And yes, barbs are light colored like wood shavings. Let a vet handle it, please. Poor kitty.
