Greetings
As I sit at my desk and watch the office cat calmly point her toe at the overhead light fixture while she smooths a spot of unruly fur to her specifications, I'm glad that the work I do allows me to stay connected to our planet and the things that inhabit it. They matter most. The unending onslaught of bad news can shake your certainty of the rightness of life unless you take a moment to assess what is truly important and what will eventually pass. Make sure you make an assessment for your own life and pay the most attention to what matters most to you.
Have a productive and connected week,
Adam

OUR PROS HELP PET OWNERS
This week's answers to requests for help
- 2 cats with chronic herpes. Can I use elderberry juice?: I have a couple of cats who have chronic herpes according to my vet. I treat it periodically with antibiotics but it's effectiveness is short lived. My question is: since this is a virus could it be helped by taking elderberry juice/syrup since it is a natural anti-viral. I have plenty of elderberries. I certainly would not give it to my cats unless I was certain it would not poison them.

- Litttle dog mated with huge dog. Help!: Long story short, I was left with a non-spayed female jack russel/mini pincher.
She mated with a germanshepard/rotweiller.about 4wks ago.
Definetly preg.
I'm concerned,& on. a fixed income, but I think she is uncomfortable & don't want it to get worse.
What are the possibilities &where do I go from here?

- 8 y/o Bichon Frise with pinkish brown paws. What is it????: I have an 8 year old Bichon Frise and recently noticed that the hair on top of all four paws has turned a pinkish brown. Any idea as to what might be causing this?

- Stress in 13 y/o dog that just moved to new house: We just moved to a new house and my dog has not been the same.
She seemed a bit restless the 1st couple of nights, and now she has not been eating much and follows me around everywhere. She is panting a bit and just does not seem herself.
She was absolutely fine before we moved, and it is not like she has not moved before. We have moved a lot, granted she is 13yrs old so I am sure that it is more difficult on her, as it is on me:)
She seems to be doing better today, but how long should this last, if it is in fact stress.
thanks,

--- I was doing some research on Cushings Disease and came across your Ask A Pet Pro blog. There were several answers there and I was able to contact one of the vets that answered another pet owner's question. After a frustrating search, I am hopeful that I've finally found help for my dog.
Sincerely,

Post this LOW on the fridge and make sure your pets read it:
Dear Dogs and Cats,
The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The
other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw
print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming
your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the
slightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack.
Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't
help because I fall faster than you can run.
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very
sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the
couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in
a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular
to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also
know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out
the other end to maximize space is nothing but
sarcasm!
For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If
by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it
is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get
your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit
through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the
bathroom for years -- canine or feline attendance is not required.
The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's
butt rather than the other way around. I cannot stress this enough!
