Recipes Here is a recipe for a natural flea and insect repellent for your dog or cat that someone sent us, saying that they have had excellent results and so have many of their friends.

    Ingredients:
  • 1 BIG lemon with a thick rind
  • 1 tablespoon of crushed rosemary leaves
  • 1 tablespoon of aloe vera pulp or juice (optional)
  • 1 quart of boiling water
  • 1 large spray bottle
Directions:
  1. Slice your lemon paper thin and place the slices in a bowl.
  2. Add the crushed rosemary leaves to the lemon slices.
  3. Pour the boiling water over the lemon and rosemary and give a light stir.
  4. Let this mixture steep overnight (steep=letting ingredients sit together in hot or warm water).
  5. Strain and put the liquid into a large spray bottle and keep in the refrigerator
  6. Before applying, shake well to mix the ingredients.
This mix should be used twice a week to keep fleas and other insects away. In heavy flea areas or when you are planning on having your pet outdoors, spray their feet and stomach areas to keep pests from jumping on them.

The oils in the spray also work to keep your pet's coat shiny and the aloe is helpful for pets with dry skin and allergies.
