Welcome to this issue of Pet News for Pet Owners from VetLocator.com

We've had an interesting week. Our customer care department has been working overtime helping you find the pet pros you are searching for, our directory searches are increasing dramatically, and our website is busier than it has ever been. Thank you for making us the most popular pet professional directory online. It is going to be a busy summer......

We have some pet food recall news, some news about courts ruling on the legality of California cities outlawing declawing of cats, and the story about the World's oldest cat is very cool. We know you will be amazed when you read the age of this kitty. Then there is the tale of the dog who drove his owner's car into the river......yeah, another crazy dog sneaks off with the car keys story.

Our video of the week is a commercial for pet food that is a take off on Home Alone, only it is your pets that were left alone.

We just launched our Pet Health Forum (it took me a bit to figure it out, I must admit but it is working fine now). This is another resource that you can use to ask questions of other pet owners for all sorts of things, from recommendations for products, tips and recipes you want to share and anything else that is pet related. We have another new feature on our site. We've added a page with our favorite videos, jokes, pictures and quotes and we want your input. If you have some favorites we have missed, please let us know by emailing us at newsletter@vetlocator.com.

Have a great week!
Adam

  • Pomeranian with skin problems. Help!

I have a Pomeranian with skin problems -- I adopted him 2 years ago and he was being treated for Mange -- Last year in about May he started with itchy pink red skin oily flaky and hair falling out my vet prescribed numerous medications and medicated shampoo -- nothing worked -- he did skin scrapings and culture growths and never was able to diagnose the problem -- it went away for a few months in Jan - April and returned in May -- Can you help me

  • Tritrchomonas foetus treatments?

Hello! We own a baby Maltese who is coming up on puberty really soon. We have been trying to decide whether or not to get her spayed.

Having been told that not getting her spayed would most likely result in ovarian or uterine cancer (which is totally ridiculous), the idea of spaying her immediately became suspect. I have been told all manner of horrible things that will happen if we allow her to go into heat and don’t get her spayed.

I would like to know what to expect if I do not choose to spay my dog.

  • 4 yr old female Lab, allergic and unhappy

Question: Do you know of any herbal supplements I could try (and the
    dosages) for FUTD?

I have a great female lab mix. She is 4 years old, and the most fearful, anxious and unhappy friend I have ever had. She is allergic to environmental stuff and is on antigens and low dose steroids. I recently saw on TV that she can have acupuncture treatment for some of these problems. Can you help us?? Labs done last week are all normal except for a very slightly elevated Alk. Phos.

    Thank you, BVB

Pet Owner Successes

Last week over 1,800 pet owners found their pet professional through our directories.

Here are just a few of the 100s of responses we receive each week from pet owners across the US:

---
"I was at my wits end trying to find someone to help my dog. Your Customer Care representative called me right back and gave me some referrals to call. I was very impressed and I wrote your company a letter about what a good service you provide. "

Thank You,
Mrs. KG, Oakland, CA

---
"I tried your site and asked a pet pro a question, but I did not get an answer. In the survey you sent I wrote I was not successful in finding what I was looking for and Rose from your Customer Care department emailed me to see if I still needed help, which I did. She walked me through a search, and I wound up with three who might be right. I called and found one and have an appointment. You and your website were a lot of help and I appreciate it very much." .

Thanks,
Michelle

---
"Adam: thank you so much--this link worked! Hope you have a great day, and thanks again for all of your help!"

Inspiration
On Larry King, Pacino told a story about doing live theatre which he loves because anything can happen.

He was doing a show in Boston, 3 hours on stage, and as he was performing, he could see these intense eyes out in the audience that seemed to be riveted on him. So he decided he would direct everything toward those eyes. He felt slightly intimidated, but they were inspiring him and so he directed his performance more and more to that member of the audience.

Finally, curtain calls came and he was of course curious to see who had been the object of his inspiration. As the lights came on, he looked out into the audience and found the eyes that had driven him to such theatrical heights.
