24 Hour Emergency Care 365 Days a Year: Premier Equine offers ambulatory field service for scheduled appointments during the week and emergency services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including all holidays. The ambulatory vehicles are fully equipped to maintain a high level of quality medical care. Please call (888)860-0244 to make an appointment or for an emergency.

Preventative Care: Premier Equine is dedicated to the wellbeing of your horse. We provide routine preventative care including physical examinations, vaccinations, deworming programs with fecal egg counts, dental care (routine and extensive), coggins (EIA) tests, health certificates, and nutritional consulting.

Dentistry: Regular dental care is extremely important to a horse’s health and well being. Premier Equine has experience in providing dental care to horses of all ages. Power tools are used most frequently to achieve the necessary angles/levels and corrections in the mouth; however, hand floats can be used in conjunction.

Advanced Diagnostics: Portable digital radiography is used. This allows for more accurate and quicker diagnoses on-site. It also allows for easy communication between owners, trainers, referral veterinarians, and farriers. Premier Equine is also equipped with digital ultrasounds (both reproductive and musculoskeletal), and endoscopy for on-site upper airway evaluation.

Lameness Evaluation: Musculoskeletal problems are common in the equine patient. Accurate diagnosis is necessary in order to increase the patient’s comfort and to decrease the length of time off. A thorough history from the owner and/or trainer is necessary along with a gait analysis (at the walk, trot, canter, lunge line, under saddle) and a thorough physical examination performed by the veterinarian. This thorough evaluation can help to determine the origin of pain or discomfort in an individual patient. Isolating the origin will consist of the diagnostics listed above and may also include hoof testers, flexion tests, nerve blocks (with local anesthetic), and/or specific joint blocks. Treatment is then determined and discussed with the owner for each specific patient. Treatments may include (but are not limited to) anti-inflammatory therapy, rest or time off, joint injections (with a steroid or IRAP), or intra-lesion injections (with PRP).

Purchase Examinations: Premier Equine has knowledge in all equine disciplines. Before or even after purchasing a new horse it is recommended to have your horse evaluated by a veterinarian. An unbiased evaluation and discussion with the potential buyer will help to determine if the specific horse is a good fit for each owner or trainer.

Reproduction: Premier Equine offers reproductive soundness evaluation for stallions and mares and artificial insemination with fresh cooled and frozen semen. Digital reproductive ultrasounds are equipped in the vehicle for rapid uterine and ovarian evaluation- to determine the reproductive status of the mare, the follicle size, presence of uterine edema, or the presence of intrauterine fluid, or to determine a pregnancy. Newborn foal examinations are also performed (including a quantitative IgG test-stall side). Intravenous plasma can be administered to the foal as needed. We are also well equipped to handle any dystocias (or difficult births).

Surgical Services: Premier Equine offers minor surgeries in the field including (but not limited to) castrations, mass removal, sarcoid treatment, laceration repair, wound management, and minor surgeries (sequestrum removal and palmar digital neurectomy).

Mesotherapy: Premier Equine offers mesotherapy as a potential treatment. This is a treatment that has been used in Europe for decades. This protocol involves tiny needles placed strategically into the mesoderm to help alleviate a wide variety of pain (used especially for patients with neck and/or back pain). It interferes with the pain pathway from the spinal cord to the muscles of the neck and back. A minimum of two sessions is necessary to determine a specific patient’s response to the treatment. Together the veterinarian and owner/trainer will determine if this is the correct treatment protocol for each specific patient.

Emergency Services: CALL (888)860-0244 for all emergencies. We are on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week (including all holidays). Some of the more common emergencies encountered include acute abdominal pain or colic, lacerations/wounds, non-weight bearing lameness, any injury to the eyes, and dystocias (difficult birth).
